I make songs that usually start with something small, just a line or a feeling I can’t really shake. Most of the time it’s just me and a guitar, trying to work out what I’m actually getting at.
I’ve never been that into polished music. I prefer it when things sound a bit rough around the edges; it just feels more real. The kind of songs that don’t do much at first, but then stick with you later on. That’s more what I’m aiming for.
A lot of what I write comes from past and present experiences, stuff I didn’t really understand until it was already gone. Just all round sad stuff, really. My goal with music is to leave you feeling more depressed after listening than you were before
Playing live, I keep it simple. I’d rather it feel like you’re in the room with me than watching something over-rehearsed.
